"In giving personalized service, we strive
to help people help themselves"
Engine Blade & Prop
was founded by Don and Betty Grinker along with a second couple
in September of 1983. An inventory of new old stock, used parts,
and used motors were purchased from an elderly collector by the
two couples and made available at their new buisness. Parts and
motors were sold, while repairs of outboard motors, lawn mowers,
and other small engines took place. After three years, Don and Betty
became sole proprietors of the business. As the customer base and
demand grew, more inventories from dealerships going out of business
were purchased. Parts that other dealerships considered obsolete
were also bought.
As the business has grown,
our focus has evolved into an effort towards OMC outboards. We have
discontinued repairing most small engine products, except for outboards.
Until January of 2001, Betty had been the primary person who ran
the business during the day, while Don worked at his full-time job.
Don would come in to repair engines during the evenings and on the
weekends. Now that Don has retired from his day job, the expertise
of his mechanical background will be available during most business
hours. Our business has been listed as a source for no longer available
parts with OMC for the past sixteen years. We are also listed as
a source for scarce parts in Peter Hunn's book, "The Old Outboard
Book." We will continue to grow in new ways, but we will continue
to serve each of our customers needs.
